Diorshow Iconic VS. Overcurl Review: Duel of Favorites

I meant to post this review ages ago but kind of forgot about it. Perhaps it's a lot less useful now but just in case someone is looking for a second opinion, here it is. Those of you who are somewhat familiar with my blog know that the Diorshow Iconic is my all time favorite mascara. When Dior released an alternative version, I can't help but try it out.

This review will be written from the perspective of a long time Dior mascara user and the comparisons will be made solely to Dior mascaras. To get a better idea of where I'm coming from, please read my Dior Mascara Overview post.

I love the Diorshow Iconic and is pleased about almost everything the mascara has to offer except for the fact that it is a little hard to do my lower lashes without making a few small mistakes. The Overcurl brush is perfect for this task however, I feel that I prefer the straight rubber wand for my upper lashes. Maybe this is because my eyes are longer than the curved wand and it's a bit harder to really get into the outer corners.

In terms of the formula, there are no drastic changes. I do feel that the Overcurl is a bit less wet and volumnizing/intense, and it doesn't hold a curl as well when I use my cotton bud method. It could be that this is just a slightly more natural version and the intensity of the formula affects the hold. Another possibility is that the rubber wand may apply more product than the brush one. Nevertheless, it still does a good job and is actually much easier to remove than the original version. I have to say that I've never really had a problem with Dior mascaras not lasting long enough and this one is equally great.

Overcurl Differences:
  • Formula holds a curl less well
  • Tiny bit less volumnizing
  • Curved brush is perfect for lower lashes
  • Easier to remove
So which one will I be purchasing next? I honestly don't know. In a way, there is no significant difference for me. I love them both.
