My Fast Minimalist Makeup Routine: Busy Morning Tips

Over the years I have perfected my fast morning routine to these essential items. Even though I blog about makeup, I don't wear a full face on daily basis for both practical and professional reasons. Here's a list of my favorite items that will get you that quick fresh look.

In my makeup bag:
  1. Concealer - Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer in #2
  2. Powder Foundation - MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in C2
  3. Foundation Brush - Sigma F80
  4. Blush/Bronzer - MAC Sculpting Powder in Sculpt
  5. Blush/Bornzer Brush - MAC 109
  6. Eyeliner Pencil - Estee Lauder Double Wear Eye Pencil in #2 Coffee
  7. Mascara - Diorshow Iconic in Black
The idea behind all this is less is more. Concealer will cover most of your imperfections, especially those under eye circles that make you look so tired. If it's really bad, use a corrector to cancel out the discoloration.
If your skin isn't too bad, skip liquid or cream foundation for those are messy and take up time. Start with a concealer and set everything with a powder foundation which also eliminates the need for a setting powder. Apply with a big foundation brush to achieve a natural finish in just a few seconds. Those of you with oily skin might need a primer or setting spray.
If you have a natural rosy glow then you can even skip blush/bronzer. However, no one always gets a good night's rest, a little color will prevent you from going to work looking like you haven't slept in too long.
I find pencil eyeliners with a smudger are the easiest to use when you are in a rush. It's fail proof and even if you do mess up the line, you can easily use the smudger to correct it. Also, choosing a long lasting one will make life easier.
Finish with an eye opening mascara and you are done! Of course if you have big long lashes or lash extensions, you can skip this step.

Everything should take 10-20 minutes depending on your skin condition, how awake you are and how familiar you are with the entire procedure. I think you can definitely do all this under 10 minutes if you are really pressed for time.
I carry around some blotting papers and the MAC foundation compact during the day to do a mid-day touch up. Most of the time, this look lasts for the entire day and I barely have to worry about it in any weather.
