Leopard print is a neutral in my book. Leopard printed on hair is an even bigger plus. I've been on the hunt for a pair of calf hair or pony hair leopard print pumps for a long time and did not want to splurge on a $900 pair that's absolutely perfect. Perhaps I shall purchase it around Christmas. As you can see, I've settled for a super cheap pair from Nine West for now. They are currently having a little sale on their website so you can get a pair for less than $60!
The key to purchasing the right leopard print accessories lies in finding the ones with truly beautiful patterns. It makes a world of difference. Look for ones with three colors rather than two which end up looking more cheetah like, and a natural evenness (combination of differently shaped spots) throughout the item so that no particular part sticks out. Other than having the pattern printed on hair, I also wanted a stiletto heel that's suitable for everyday use, with no platforms, and a slightly almond toe. The Caress is the closest to my ideal at a low price point.
I'm a big believer in wearing leather shoes and never really liked the feeling of synthetic materials after a few hours of wear. It never feels comfortable enough and things start to get "stuffy". However, these are simply lovely shoes. With a 3.5" stiletto heel and some light padding in the sole, I can wear these all day long without any problems. Nine West tend to use obsessively thick padding for some of their heels which interrupts my feet's communication with the ground and throws me off balance. I'm glad that these are thin are provide great support.
Caress has a round toe box that's slightly almond shaped. This shoe shape really resembles the Christian Louboutin Simple Pumps and the Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps which I think isn't really worthwhile after they changed the materials if you don't mind the synthetic material of the Caress.
Anyways, I do wish that the darkest color was a little darker, the pattern was a bit more even around the heel of the shoes and they didn't try to match the location of the spots on each shoe because they clearly failed. But I can't ask for more at such a price. These are absolutely a great find for this season! I will be wearing these very often~
