Summer is finally here! This is just a little reminder for hot summer day makeup wearing. Nothing here is new but people often forget and end up looking like a mess.
Less is more: Cut down the number of products you use and how much you use. Try to skip foundation if you can and only use concealer. If not, apply a very sheer layer of foundation to the center of your face, focusing on any problem regions, leave the rest bare.
Sunscreen: This is an obvious step that a lot of people forget. I would say it's the most important step since it prevents damages being done to your skin and thus prevents the effects of aging from appearing too soon. There are many new formulas now that makes the product matte or add priming abilities. The sun protection from your average moisturizer might not be enough for a hot summer day so invest in a powerful sunscreen. Also, don't forget to protect your delicate eye area and your lips!
Switch to powders: If you must use a foundation, use a power one instead of creams or oil based fluids. Powder ones are much less likely to move and easier to touch up on. If you really want to use a liquid one, try to look for ones with a silicone base rather than oil based.
Matte formulations: Again, if you have to wear foundation, use a matte one (with the exception of people with very dry skin). When it's hot outside, your skin will produce more oils so a matte foundation will even things out.
Waterproof mascara: pretty self explanatory. If you don't want to look like a mess and wish to splash around in the pool, wear a waterproof mascara.
Liquid/Gel eyeliners: pencil eyeliners are much more likely to smudge and move when you are sweating or excreting extra sebum. Opt for a waterproof/long lasting liquid or gel liner instead.
Eye shadow: I would suggest to skip this step. A good eyeliner and mascara will define your look and make everything mess free but if you still want to wear some, use ones with long lasting gel/cream formulations instead of powders. These won't budge.
Bronzer: A good bronzer will eliminate the need for a blush and contouring product while adding a lovely warmth to your face. This falls in with the main concept of less is more. Again, choosing a long lasting formulation is key. Oilier skins should definitely look into matte ones while people with very dry skin should consider ones with a slight sheen.
Blotting paper: Carry some on you for quick touch ups along with your favorite touch up compact.
Sunglasses: The eye area is very delicate and the easiest way of protecting it is to wear a pair of large sunglasses. This doesn't mean you can skip sunscreen!
