A crucial part of fashion is reinterpreting something people did before and modifying it to this era. Let's face it, a lot of bags with designs that are accepted by the general public look somewhat alike. There are only so many things you can do before it gets weird. But what is Prada doing?!?! Their new 2013 Fall Twin Compartment bags resemble the Celine Luggage too much, especially the original 2010 straight Celine bags.
It's a sad move from such a large fashion house. The Prada one is $500 - $1000 cheaper than the Celine but it looks rather plain and lacking in character. I love the Lux Tote but this is just a little disappointing. I wouldn't have thought so poorly of it if it was a bit more sophisticated. Would you get the Prada instead of the Celine?
This brings me to the topic of a new love, YSL Sac de Jour which a lot of people criticized for being too similar to Hermes Birkin. I personally feel that these two bags convey two different signals. The YSL is purely professional, something a sharp and meticulous woman would carry to work while the Hermes is more complicated given how it's mostly carried by housewives these days. What do you guys think?
